About
Ginza Bairin Tonkatsu & Yoshoku Bistro is Honolulu’s premier destination for authentic Japanese cuisine.
Our Honolulu location is the first of the Ginza Bairin restaurants to open outside of Asia.
At our location at 255 Beach Walk in the heart of Waikiki diners can find us serving plates of our world-famous Tonkatsu along with the specialty sauce created by Ginza Bairin’s founder, Nobukatsu Shibuya, in 1927.
The Ginza Bairin chain of restaurants is owned and managed by the third generation of the Shibuya family, embodying a true legacy dining experience.
Ginza Bairin offers a variety of exciting plates for those who love the Western-influenced dishes that emerged during Japan’s Meiji Restoration Period, illustrating a truly fascinating history in every bite.
A select number of Tonkatsu dishes are offered for take-out as well via integrated on-line ordering.
Ginza Bairin Tonkatsu & Yoshoku Bistro Waikiki is unique from the international Ginza Bairin locations because it offers two distinct dining experiences under the same roof.
In the Tonkatsu room we offer both traditional and contemporary Tonkatsu menu offerings for sit-down diners, including the Tonkatsu Sando, Pork Tonkatsu, and more.
The star of the Tonkatsu menu is the high-quality Berkshire pork that forms the basis for the cutlet dishes, along with the low-sugar bread crumb batter and premium salad oil used to create a perfectly crispy outside and juicy inside in every bite.
Ginza Bairin’s signature Tonkatsu Sauce, a blend of spices, fruits, and vegetables, brings out the natural sweetness and robust flavor of the Tonkatsu.
Our Yoshoku Bistro features Japanese dishes that were inspired by Western ingredients, but are original, unique dishes.
Yoshoku is one of two main styles of food in Japan, with influences including Italian, French, and Portuguese.
Ginza Bairin’s Yoshoku Bistro includes sit-down and take-out dining options, with a wider variety of western dishes like Omurice, Melty Beef Stew, and Spaghetti Napolitan, along with popular Tonkatsu dishes.
Both of our dining areas offer an array of unique dishes that illustrate the fascinating history of Japanese cuisine while highlighting a commitment to serving the highest quality food possible, all inside a chic, stylish Japanese bistro setting in beautiful Waikiki.
